ADAFP Statement on the Moroccan Legislative Elections

24 September 2026

The African Democratic Alliance for Freedom and Progress (ADAFP) warmly congratulates the people of the Kingdom of Morocco on the successful conduct of the legislative elections held on 23 September 2026.

ADAFP commends the Moroccan authorities, electoral institutions, political parties, candidates and citizens for the orderly organisation of this important democratic exercise. We particularly appreciate the continued adoption of modern tools and technologies in electoral administration, which can contribute to greater efficiency, accessibility and transparency in democratic processes.

While the final results remain subject to the completion of the legal and constitutional procedures, ADAFP congratulates the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) on emerging first according to the provisional results announced by the Ministry of the Interior. We wish the party and its elected representatives success in carrying out the responsibilities entrusted to them by Moroccan voters.

ADAFP also warmly congratulates its member parties, the Popular Movement (MP) and the Constitutional Union (UC), on their respective results and on their participation in this important national democratic process. We look forward to their constructive contribution to the work of the new Parliament.

The Moroccan elections are important not only for the Kingdom but also for Africa as a whole. Morocco's democratic and institutional experience offers valuable lessons for other African countries seeking to strengthen representative institutions, political pluralism, peaceful political competition, electoral administration and parliamentary democracy. At the same time, ADAFP believes that every African nation should develop its democratic institutions in accordance with its own history, circumstances and aspirations.

ADAFP looks forward to the new Parliament and the forthcoming government working to advance the aspirations of the Moroccan people and to further strengthen Morocco's development, stability and contribution to Africa.

We extend our sincere wishes to the Moroccan people for peace, prosperity and continued progress, and wish success to the country's institutions under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
