ADAFP Statement on the Botswana Mission

The African Democratic Alliance for Freedom and Progress (ADAFP) welcomes the successful conclusion of  mission of  its Deputy Secretary-General, Mr. Adil Abdel Aati to Botswana on September 2026. 
The mission strengthened ADAFP’s political engagement with Botswana, including formal discussions with the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) and the Botswana National Front (BNF), and the presentation of an official invitation to UDC to join the Alliance. It also established valuable links with government institutions, Gaborone City Council, civil-society organisations and the business community.
Particular attention was given to promoting trade, investment and tourism cooperation between Botswana, Africa and Europe. The mission initiated several practical initiatives, including establishing Delta Trade, Investment and Consulting (Pty) Ltd, presenting the proposed Botswana the proposed Botho Botswana Growth Fund.
ADAFP considers Botswana an important partner in advancing democratic governance, economic development, African cooperation and private-sector-led growth. The Alliance will continue to follow up on the outcomes of the mission and develop the relationships and initiatives established during the visit.
ADAFP expresses its appreciation to its members and partners in Botswana, particularly Dr. Tlamelo Mmatli and Mrs. Gosaitse Rapelang, for their support and excellent coordination throughout the mission.
