Meet the President of ADAFP, Hon. Dr. Mmusi Maimane.
Please meet the President of the African Democratic Alliance for Freedom and Progress, Hon. Dr. Mmusi Maimane.
Born in 1980, Mmusi grew up in Soweto, South Africa. He matriculated from Allen Glen High School in 1997. With two master’s degrees in Public Administration and Theology and a Ph.D. in Public Management and Governance, Mmusi’s desire to use every opportunity afforded him has built his career in business, politics, and community work.
Mmusi was the Leader of the Official Opposition in South Africa, a position he held for more than five years. During that time, he championed the fight against government corruption, which steals resources from the poor. After stepping down from formal party politics, he founded the One South Africa Movement, a civic initiative aimed at empowering communities, promoting independent candidates, and fostering accountable governance. Building on this vision, he went on to establish Build One South Africa (BOSA), a political platform focused on uniting South Africans around shared values, social justice, and economic opportunity.
Mmusi currently serves as a Member of Parliament and is the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Appropriations, where he plays a key role in overseeing the allocation and effective use of the national budget to ensure transparency, accountability, and developmental impact.
Mmusi is also an ordained pastor who has headed up the Liberty Church Discovery campus for many years. He has preached on several local and international platforms. Mmusi has been married to Natalie since 2005, and they have three children: two daughters, Kgalaletso and Kutlwano, and a son, Daniel
