ADAFP Concludes Participation in the RENEWPAC Summit 2026, Reinforcing Liberal Partnerships

(April 10, 2026) The African Democratic Alliance for Freedom and Progress (ADAFP) has successfully concluded its participation in the RENEWPAC Summit 2026, held under the theme “Strengthening Liberal Partnerships in a Multipolar World.” The Alliance was represented by its Deputy Secretary General, Mr. Adil Abdel Aati, whose engagement significantly advanced ADAFP’s growing international presence and strategic partnerships.

During the last day of the summit, 9 April 2026, Mr. Abdel Aati held high-level discussions with Sidi Touré, Minister and Vice President of Liberal International (LI) and Co-Chairperson of RENEWPAC, alongside Phil Bennion, Vice President of LI, International Liaison of LibDems, Britain, and a leading figure in Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD). The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between ADAFP and Liberal International, with emphasis on building sustainable institutional partnerships.

Further engagements with leaders of the African Liberal Network reinforced collaboration among liberal actors across Africa. Mr. Adil assured that it is the intention of ADAFP to work with all interested African networks for the common cause of Africa, including ALN and the Democratic Union of Africa (DUA). Mr. Abdel Aati also participated in a high-level dinner hosted by Dr. Hakima El Haite, bringing together prominent African leaders, including HE Cellou Dalein Diallo, former Prime Minister of Guinea and leader of the UFDG, to discuss key political developments and opportunities for democratic advancement across the continent.

During talks with various actors, the ADAFP Deputy Secretary General called for support for the candidacy of HE Macky Sall for the Secretary General of the United Nations.

On April 10, 2026, Mr. Abdel Aati, together with Noureldin Salaheldin, President of the National Trend Party of Sudan, met with Mr. Younis Maamar, the International liaison of the Party of Authenticity and Modernity (PAM), during which discussions focused on regional cooperation and political developments, including the situation in Sudan.

Speaking on the outcomes of the summit, Mr. Abdel Aati stated:

“ADAFP’s engagement at RENEWPAC 2026 marks an important step in strengthening partnerships with global liberal actors. We are committed to advancing democratic governance, fostering collaboration, and amplifying Africa’s voice within the international liberal movement.”

The Summit concluded with a strategic meeting with ADAFP Coordinator, Mr. Jawad Chafil, focusing on the Alliance’s institutional development, including its formal registration and operational strengthening.

ADAFP’s participation underscores its emergence as a dynamic pan-African platform committed to promoting liberal democracy, inclusive governance, and sustainable development.
