Press Brief – ADAFP Activities Update

The African Democratic Alliance for Freedom and Progress (ADAFP) is pleased to highlight the continued engagement of its Secretary General, Eddie D. Jarwolo, in advancing the Alliance’s mission to promote democratic values and youth political participation across Africa.
As part of this effort, Naymote Partners for Democratic Development in Liberia, an ADAFP member organization successfully convened its Third Annual Summit on Democracy and Political Accountability from 24–25 March 2026, under the theme: “Sustaining Liberia’s Democracy through Accountability, Inclusion, and Rule of Law.” The summit brought together over 80 participants from across the country and featured a keynote address by the Chief Justice of Liberia.

The African Democratic Alliance for Freedom and Progress expresses its full and unequivocal support for the candidacy of HE Macky Sall for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations. At a critical moment for global governance, Africa must speak with one voice. Macky Sall embodies the leadership, experience, and commitment to multilateral cooperation that the world urgently needs.

His proven ability to build consensus, promote stability, and advance development makes him a strong and credible candidate not only for Africa, but for the international community as a whole. We call on all African states and members of the international community to unite behind this historic candidacy and support a more balanced, inclusive, and representative global order.

ADAFP Calls for Respect of Constitutional Order and Term Limits in Zimbabwe

The African Democratic Alliance for Freedom and Progress (ADAFP) is following the recent events in Zimbabwe, that may threaten constitutional integrity, democratic systems, and political stability.

ADAFP is deeply concerned by the efforts to initiate a constitutional referendum aimed at extending presidential tenure beyond the constitutional limits. Such actions risk undermining democratic principles, eroding public trust, and potentially destabilizing the country.

Momentum Builds in Casablanca Ahead of ADAFP Founding Assembly

On the eve of the historic Founding General Assembly of the African Democratic Alliance of Freedom and Progress (ADAFP), leaders and delegates from 16 African countries gathered in Casablanca for a day marked by solidarity, dialogue, and African liberal cooperation.
An evening reception was graciously hosted at the headquarters of the Constitutional Union in Casablanca, where delegates met with Party Secretary General Hon. Mohamed Joudar and senior members of the leadership. The meeting provided an important opportunity to exchange views on democratic governance, institutional reform, economic development, and the future of liberal and progressive movements across Africa.

A new chapter in Africa’s democratic transformation begins with the official founding of the African Democratic Alliance for Freedom and Progress (ADAFP).
This historic initiative brings together democratic, liberal, and progressive political forces, civic leaders, and organizations from across the continent around a shared vision: to build a free, prosperous, and just Africa.
The founding meeting of the ADAFP was held online on December 7, 2025, bringing together more than twenty political leaders and representatives from across Africa.
